Changing the way the world sees Canadian content with MADE | NOUS

MADE | NOUS website

Celebrating Canadian-Made Content

In February 2019, The Canada Media Fund launched the MADE | NOUS brand and website to celebrate the works of Canadian creators in film, television, video games and digital entertainment around the world. They came to us to bring their movement (and brand) to the next level, challenging us to build the new foundation on which it will become the best-in-breed destination for Canadian content.

Strength in Being Canadian-Made

We started by evolving the MADE | NOUS online look and feel by updating their colour palette and user experience with the goal of bringing additional brand awareness to what MADE | NOUS is all about. Our focus on a style that celebrates Canadian-made not only makes the experience more memorable, but also enables us to find a way to recognize all of the partners and supporters involved.

A Canadian Content Guided Experience

Our team refreshed the new homepage to deliberately inspire all users to explore new and engaging content and functionality. From the Recommends section to the Made Quiz, our design brings the visitor’s goal to the forefront: to find amazing Canadian content that is based on their preferences!

Hand-Picked By Canadians

The MADE Recommends section is a collection of Canadian Content that has been handpicked by renowned Canadian writers and celebrities for everyone’s enjoyment. We designed this content so that it can be easily browsed and sorted while also having the option to read full details of Canadian involvement and where users can consume the actual titles on streaming services all over the web.

Only Watch What You Like

The MADE Quiz component is an interactive experience for users, where they are presented with a series of questions that asks about their preferences and then given a list of exciting Canadian titles to explore and enjoy–a customized list of recommendations that provides a tailored experience.

Campaign Ready – Seek More

The streamlined navigation of the new website allows the MADE team to easily add sections and content. MADE is now home to the latest SEEK MORE campaign that inspires Canadians to search out more content and creators from diverse backgrounds, cultures and communities. The campaign features video rich content of six of Canada’s top creators, their stories and what they recommend.

Easy Back-end Management

As Canadian content continues to flourish around the world, to keep up and catalogue the highest of quality and best in class pieces and titles, the MADE | NOUS team needed us to create a process and interface for intuitive content population and publishing. Our team streamlined the workflow and created custom features to enable an optimal experience for publishing and managing updates to new titles.

Capturing the Results

Allowing visitors to find streaming resources that play and share Canadian content is a key part of this initiative. We’ve put in place the capabilities to measure and report back on what titles are most popular and where visitors are going to view them so that MADE | NOUS can continue to push out the best content possible.

Bringing the Community Closer

The website is also a place where the MADE | NOUS team can bring the Canadian Media community together. Along with the Recommends, we made the website Campaign-ready. It’s super easy to add new campaigns throughout the year that will connect users to their favourite Canadian Celebrities and to take part in the interactive events. The platform is also ready for visitors to share and submit their favourite titles and experiences.

Our team loves watching movies, playing video games and soaking up digital content. It’s the fuel that keeps our engines going. Being a Canadian team ourselves, it has been a pleasure to work with the team at MADE | NOUS to help showcase to the world the strength of Canadian content.
